Overview of Famous Paris Hotels

Welcome to the “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” in Paris…at the Four Season Hotel George V. Photo courtesy of Forbes Magazine.
- Four Seasons Hotel George V = Located Between Arc de Triomphe & Champs-Elysees. Hugh Hefner brought his “Girls Next Door” here: Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, & Kendra Wilkinson! Elizabeth Taylor honeymooned here (granted, the union with Nicky Hilton only lasted 8 months), & the Beatles famously finished a song in one of their suites. Gwyneth Paltrow & the Kardashians appreciate their “Flowers, Food, & Facials“….their five-star spa is a place to be pampered. Charlie Chaplin & Penelope Cruz have also rested their heads at the famous George V.
- The Ritz Paris = Walkable to Tuilerie Gardens & Musee de L’Orangerie. Founded in 1898, the Ritz has some serious history: Coco Chanel lived in the hotel for a decade ~ you can stay in the suite named for her. Ernest Hemingway was also a frequent guest; their lounge bar is named after him. F. Scott Fitzgerald & King Edward VII have also called the Ritz home. And sadly, it was the last hotel Princess Diana ever visited, with Dodi Fayed: they dined here the night of their tragic car crash ~ as shown on the final season of “The Crown.” In spite of this sad history, The Ritz’s location is still one of the best in town, & great for visitors on a honeymoon or romantic getaway…
- Le Meurice = A Favorite with the Fashion Crowd & Young Hollywood. This is a favorite of European royalty (good enough for Queen Victoria) ~ so you may meet a Prince or Princess here. But it’s also a favorite with old-school Hollywood royalty, like Elizabeth Taylor & Orson Welles. Beyonce & Jay-Z conceived one of their children here *allegedly*, while Justin Bieber was kicked out during his stay! Kristen Stewart, Kim Kardashian, & fashion moguls like Anna Wintour & Kate Moss have all stayed here. And their restaurant was feautured prominently in Season 3 of “Emily in Paris.”
- The Shangri-La Paris = Beyonce’s Favorite Paris Hotel ~ & OH-So-Close to the Eiffel Tower! Legendary burlesque star Dita Von Teese posed for romantic photos in their lush gardens, while Beyonce & Jay-Z have raved about their stays here ~ showing iconic views of the Eiffel Tower from their balcony. If you look at the map above, you’ll see that Shangri-La Paris is the closest hotel to the Eiffel Tower: your photos will be iconic.
- Hotel Plaza Athenee = Gorgeously Situated on the Champs-Elysees. If this hotel looks familiar: it’s where Carrie Bradshaw & Mr. Big (aka Sarah Jessica Parker & Chris Noth) reunited once & for all in the finale of “Sex & the City.” Other famous celebrity guests include Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Nicole Richie, Natalie Portman….& Mariah Carey renewed her vows here with Nick Cannon (although that didn’t turn out so well).
It’s just steps from the Champs-Elysees & the Seine….

“I wrote about how EXCELLENT this property was 6 years ago. It’s as FABULOUS as ever! Just finished a week there, & rooms, food, people, service was superb. If you’re looking for a great luxury hotel in Paris ~ [Plaza Athenee] is hard to beat.”

The restaurant at Le Meurice.
Le Meurice’s location can’t be beat: we had a marvelous room on the top floor with balconies overlooking the Tuileries. What impressed me most was the superlative service, especially housekeeping! Amazing view, luxurious room, & unparalleled attention to guests: I was incredibly impressed with this hotel.– Kristi C.

The Shangri-La Paris is one of Beyonce’s favorite hotels in the city.
Have you ever stayed somewhere & said to yourself, ‘There’s no way I’ll stay anywhere else?’ We’ve found that hotel! What a great experience! From check-in to checkout, it was a tremendous stay. The attention to detail their staff has is the best of the best.We were greeted & acknowledged by every staff member we passed, doors opened & [we were] greeted with a warm smile. Treated as if we were staying in the penthouse! Overall, an AMAZING hotel.– Michael P.

My wife loves Sex and the City, and I wanted to surprise her with a romantic trip to Paris – staying in the same hotel that Sarah Jessica Parker did. Your article was a great resource! Found exactly the information I was looking for, and my wife couldn’t believe the research I did. We had a great time, and especially loved their garden restaurant, Le Cour Jardin. Much thanks from a happy husband.
This is fantastic to hear, Norman! I bet your wife was WOW’ed by your efforts ~ this sounds like the trip of a lifetime! Glad to have helped you find the right hotel for your stay : ) Noelia
Love to hear that, Mark! Three other readers/clients also stayed at the Shangri-La during that time: it definitely is a Paris landmark. Glad you enjoyed!
