Best Hotels in Walking Distance to the Louvre
The Louvre is one of Paris’ most visited attractions, with 10 million people visiting each year (which breaks down to 27,000 visitors per day)!! It’s the most popular museum in the world, followed by the British Museum in London, & the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York. It’s also the world’s largest museum, at over 650,000 square feet ~ filled with 400,000+ objects of art. Its location along the Seine in the heart of Paris also makes it an ideal hotel location, which we’ll discover as we tour the “Best Hotels in Walking Distance to the Louvre!”

The Louvre is located on the Right Bank (north of the Seine), as are hotels listed below. No hotel is more than a 10-minute walk from the Louvre, & you can also easily walk to the Tuilerie Gardens, the phenomenal Musee D’Orsay, & Notre Dame.

Luxury Hotels by the Louvre
1. Hotel du Louvre in the Unbound Collection ($394)
You can’t get any closer to the Louvre than Hotel du Louvre, by Hyatt: it’s right across the street from the Louvre’s pyramid entrance, & rooms feature views of the Opera Garnier, Place du Royal Palais, & of course, the Louvre itself. Even if you’re not staying here, check out their famous brasserie for lunch, or enjoy cocktails in their tres chic jazz bar.
2. Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre ($495)
Just a 7-minute walk from the Louvre, the Hotel Lumen Paris is oh-so trendy & chic ~ & with the inflated prices you’d expect in Paris’ most exclusive neighborhood! If you can afford it, opt for a suite here: as their standard rooms are tiny (typical in Paris). Enjoy an in-room massage, take photos with their funky lobby chandeliers, or see & be seen at their hip restaurant & bar.

3. Grand Hotel du Palais Royal ($430)
A true five-star hotel, the Grand Hotel du Palais Royal is just a 2-minute walk from the Louvre, & its 68 rooms give it an upscale & intimate boutique feel. Set in an 18th-century building with rooms to match, you’ll get a vivid sense of history, & their close proximity to famed shopping district, Rue Saint-Honore, will have you hob-nobbing with the best of them.
4. Hotel Regina Louvre ($375)
Now, if I wanted to stay near the Louvre: Hotel Regina Louvre would by my choice. Why? Not only are you set across from the Tuilerie Gardens & within a 5-minute walk from the Louvre, but some rooms offer views of the Eiffel Tower! And on the very plus side, rooms here are larger than most Paris hotels ~ so if you have a group or family, this is a great choice.
Hotels by the Louvre Under $200/Night
Can you stay by the Louvre for under $200 per night?? The good news is: you CAN!! There are five hotels in this category: my favorites are listed first, with honorable mentions following.
5. Hotel Moliere ($184)
My top choice for less expensive hotels near the Louvre is Hotel Moliere. It’s the most upscale of the bunch, with a dazzling array of amenities: including soundproof rooms, espresso machines, soaking tubs, skylights, terraces, & a sauna. Grab an in-room spa treatment following a long day at the Louvre, or relax in their wellness center. At Hotel Moliere, it will feel more like you’re staying with a rich relative than at a hotel…
6. Hotel Crayon Rouge ($179)
This is the most eclectic & colorful hotel near the Louvre: Hotel Crayon Rouge. Granted, its whimsical interiors won’t be for everyone, but it’s a great hotel for solo travelers ~ not so much for a romantic getaway! A 5-minute walk from the Louvre, rooms run small…so ask for an upgrade or book a suite if you prefer more space.
7. Hotel Therese ($151)
Hotel Therese is the most sophisticated choice: impeccably-decorated with turquoise accents in the lobby, as well as a chic little library, this is the most stylish hotel for the money. Again, rooms are on the small side, so ask for an upgrade. But the location makes up for it: you’re surrounded by cafes, restaurants (many open late), & shopping ~ plus the Louvre is only a 7-minute walk away…
Honorable Mentions…
Two more hotels near the Louvre under $200/night are: Hotel Louvre Montana ($180) & the Best Western Premier Louvre Sainte-Honore ($174). Both offer bright, cheerful rooms ~ but note that the Montana is currently under renovation (as of December 2019). Bathrooms at the Best Western are big (a HUGE plus in Paris!!), & rooms are more sophisticated than a typical Best Western ~ so don’t be put-off just because it’s a chain!

Great article, very helpful! If we wanted to see most of the “main sights” in the Louvre, i.e. the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, etc. – about how long would you budget to spend in the museum? All of these hotels frankly look amazing, though the larger rooms at the Hotel Regina seem like a great option. Nowhere seems to have tinier rooms than in Paris!! We’ve had some real duds there ha
Hi Sasha! Thanks for your comment : ) The Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, & many of the Louvre’s “main” attractions are in the Denon section ~ & I would budget at LEast 3-4 hours to visit that section alone! And bring your walking shoes…
We’re looking for a hotel that’s very close to the Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay, as many of our friends have said they enjoyed it as much or more than the Louvre. It looks like the two museums are quite close? Just across the river from each other. Could you visit both museums in one day?
Hi Allison! Yes, the Louvre & the Musee D’Orsay are quite close to each other ~ about a 12-minute walk across the river. I don’t think I’d want to visit both museums in the same day…that would be a bit of “museum overkill,” in my book! Particularly b/c the Louvre is so massive, I would budget one day to visit it, & spend the afternoon doing something else, i.e. walking up the Champs Elysee, etc. The Musee D’Orsay is much more petite, but I’d still budget at least 3-4 hours to visit it ~ including a visit to the gorgeous cafe upstairs with its “clock tower” views of Paris! xoxox Noelia
