Of all the places I’ve traveled in the world, France has influenced me most in terms of designing home & garden.  My yard incorporates many elements of French country style.  And in my home: I appreciate the calming influence that the muted French palette brings.  From soft whites & creams, to dreamy blues & garden-friendly greens: the best colors for this style have a softness & romance to them.  In this article, we’ll discover some of the best French country paint colors…from lavender to dusty blue & beyond!

I’ve used the beautiful greyish-greenish “Provence Blue” for the bottom cabinets of this custom hutch in my dining room.

**Author’s Note: Getting paint samples first is always a MUST.  Paint colors change in different rooms, & in different lights.  You can see that the “Provence Blue” in my home (above) looks slightly different than in the photo above it.  This is totally normal, & why you must look at a sample at different times of the day, too.

**The color of the top right picture is actually unknown, & it’s antiqued finish makes it harder to tell the original color.  But Hollingsworth Green’s beautiful blend of green, blue, & grey is a close match.  As is Behr’s Zen paint color ~ which is a light & airy natural green.
