Best Brunch Spots in Redondo Beach

I lived in Hermosa Beach for several years, back in the day….& neighboring Redondo Beach reminds me of where I grew up: San Clemente.  Life is a little slower-paced in Redondo than in other South Bay cities; at heart, it’s a relaxed, beach city with mellow vibes.  And its coastline & boardwalk, with views towards the ritzy Palos Verdes Peninsula, are stunning.  But there are also good breakfast spots here!  In this article, we’ll list some of the “Best Brunch Spots in Redondo Beach,” with short descriptions of each & photos.

Redondo Beach has gorgeous views towards the Palos Verdes Peninsula, & a more mellow vibe than neighboring Hermosa.

Most of the breakfast spots listed here are pretty casual, much like Redondo itself. For a few more upscale options, read my article on great brunch spots in neighboring Manhattan Beach.

Baleen Kitchen is one of the only oceanview brunch spots in town ~ & it’s located inside the Portofino Hotel. Photo by Portofino Hotel.

  1. Baleen Kitchen = Classy Oceanview Restaurant in Portofino Hotel Serving Breakfast Daily.  If you’re looking for a “bougie” breakfast in Redondo with harbor views: head here! Try their Chia Pudding, Mom’s Garden Omelette, King Harbor Benedict (with Smoked Salmon), or Cornmeal Pancakes. Plus, there’s a full bar here ~ so wine, beer, & cocktails are all possibilities with brunch! Breakfast Hours: 7AM-2PM DAILY.
  2. Cozy Cafe = Unpretentious Local’s Breakfast Spot. There’s nothin’ fancy here: from the unfussy exterior to the diner vibes inside. Food is also really straightforward ~ order a French Toast special, Pork Chops & Eggs, or a Beach Bum Scramble.  Hours: 6:30AM-2PM DAILY.
  3. Good Stuff Redondo Beach = South Bay Chain Known for Surfer Vibes + Healthy Fare + Mimosas.  They’ve got 4 locations in the South Bay (also in Hermosa), & have reliably good food ~ including vegan options. Order a Tropical Green Smoothie, Applewood Smoked Bacon & Eggs, Vegan Tofu Scramble, or Eggs Benedict. Then wash it down with a Guava, Mango, or Traditional Mimosa…or a Bloody Mary.  Hours: 7AM-3PM DAILY.
  4. Phanny’s = Popular Spot for Quick Breakfast Burritos!  They’ve got every kind of breakfast burrito you could possibly want ~ Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Carne Asada, Chorizo….& the list goes on! Not great for a sit-down meal with mimosas ~ better for grab & go. Hours: 7AM-2PM Tuesday-Sunday; CLOSED on Mondays
  5. The Original Pancake House = Old-School Diner Vibes with All-Day Breakfast ~ But NO Alcohol. Known for their pancakes (Bacon, Banana, & Blueberry…to name a few) ~ they’ve also got all kinds of Scrambles, Omelettes, Benedicts, & French Toast. But they don’t serve alcohol, so if you’re hankering for a mimosa: head elsewhere. Hours: 7AM-2PM Weds-Monday; CLOSED Tuesdays
  6. Riera’s Place = Popular Pizza Place with Killer All-Day Breakfast.  Known for their pizza, locals also know about a great secret here: they’ve got an amazing 3-item all-day breakfast menu. Try Nick’s Breakfast Burrito (which you can doctor up in all kinds of ways), a Deli Breakfast Sub, or the Burnout Breakfast Sandwich. This is hearty fare ~ great for hangovers!  Hours: 10AM-6PM Monday-Saturday; CLOSED on Sundays.
  7. The Cheesecake Factory = Oceanview Weekend Brunch ONLY with a FULL BAR.  If you’re looking for a view of the harbor + weekend brunch: head here. Try their Fried Chicken & Waffles, Buttermilk Pancakes, Lemon-Ricotta Pancakes, or Green Chilaquiles with Carnitas. Even their breakfast menu is HUGE. Wash it down with a Peach Bellini, Bloody Mary, or Espresso Martini. Brunch Hours: 10AM-2PM on Saturday & Sunday Only.
  8. Wildflower Cafe = Artistic Cafe with Delicious Food + Indoor/Outdoor Seating.  Known for reliably good breakfast & lunch fare, try their Sun-Dried Tomato Omelette, Italian Scramble, Organic Granola, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, or Eggs Florentine. Mimosas, wine, champagne, & beer also served ~ & they have a cute outdoor patio. Good coffee too!  Hours: 8AM-2:30PM DAILY.
