Where to Stay in Polanco
Polanco is the “Beverly Hills of Mexico City!” That’s exactly how I felt as I walked its busy streets, filled with cheerful farmer’s markets, high-end shopping, & glamorous restaurants & bars. This is a swanky area: & the next time I’m in town, it’s where I’ll stay, for two reasons: 1) Because it’s one of the city’s safest neighborhoods, & 2) It has SO many good restaurants & nightlife, right at your doorstep! Here, I’ve narrowed down the area’s best hotels to five top choices, to answer the question: “Where to Stay in Polanco.”

Overview of Great Hotels in Polanco
Five of Polanco’s top hotels are listed below….& they run the gamut from small, boutique hotels like Casa Polanco ~ to larger chains like the JW Marriott Mexico City.
- Casa Polanco Hotel Boutique ($559+/night) = Intimate, 11-Room Boutique Hotel with Top-Notch Service: This is the smallest hotel on the list, with extremely personal service. Great for couples & romantic getaways. Hidden behind high walls, overlooking Parque Lincoln: this is one of the most tranquil places to stay in the city. They offer afternoon tea, cocktails, & you can even enjoy a romantic, private dinner on your terrace ~ which is why this is my top choice for couples. It’s also the closest hotel to La Unica + many other amazing restaurants!
- Intercontinental Presidente Mexico City ($201+/night) = Massive High-Rise with the Largest Wine Cellar in Latin America! Whereas Casa Polanco has only 11 rooms, the Intercontinental boasts 700 rooms~ on 42 floors, making it one of the biggest hotels in the city….& popular with business travelers. Rooms are luxurious & modern, the hotel has several good restaurants, & you’re also walkable to the city’s best shopping & nightlife. At around $200/night, this is one of the best values for the price in Polanco!
- W Mexico City ($355+/night) = Trendy High-Rise with Great Restaurants & Nightlife in the Hotel: If you want a hotel where the nightlife is in the hotel: stay at the W. Whether you’re a solo traveler looking to meet people, or on a girl’s getaway: you’ll be able to meet people here! Check out their Living Room Bar, which offers cocktails + live DJ’s. For a more refined evening: head to their airy terrace restaurant, Trivvu. Or, try out Mexican food at 25DOS…which also offers breakfast too. Lots of options!
- The Wild Oscar ($224+/night) = Sophisticated Boutique Hotel with Refined Rooms + Chic Restaurant. This place has C-H-A-R-A-C-T-E-R galore!! And it’s got a reasonable price-point for such a fashionable neighborhood, + their richly-decorated rooms are somy of my favorites. Sophisticated travelers will love staying here, & it’s great for many categories: business & solo travelers, as well as couples.
- JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City ($315+/night): Great VALUE in Polanco + Newly-Renovated with Beautiful Decor & Restaurants: It’s always good to have a freshly-renovated hotel on the list: & as of a month ago, renovations here are about 95% complete. Concerts, museums, & great restaurants are all within easy walking distance ~ or simply enjoy the restaurants in-hotel. Their great outdoor pool will be enjoyed by kids & adults alike, & indeed: this is one of the best hotels for a family vacation in Mexico City.
“We are world travelers & try to stay at luxury boutique hotels wherever we are. Casa Polanco is at the top of our experiences. Beautiful, quaint, immaculate & service like you’re royalty. Love this hotel.”

Most Modern Hotels in Polanco
The W Mexico City & the JW Marriott are both part of larger, international chains ~ but it doesn’t mean they aren’t great places to stay in Polanco. They both offer large rooms, modern bathrooms (some with killer city views), & rooftop pools & bars where you’ll be able to mingle with other well-heeled out-of-town’ers.
Great for solo travelers & those looking for nightlife in-house! Check prices at The W Mexico City.
“Absolutely fantastic hotel! I’ve been coming to the JW Mexico City for years & this newly-renovated hotel is fabulous. Service & location are unbeatable. Quiet, reliable, & easy to reach from the airport (roughly 20-45 minutes by Uber). Their renovated restaurant & lobby bar are stunning, & I love the pool & spa. I felt absolutely safe walking around Polanco to nearby cafes & restaurants.”

Best Values in Polanco
Getting a hotel around $200/night is about as cheap as it gets in Polanco. And you can still get a great room & ambience at this price-point. The Intercontinental Presidente ($201+) offers more rooms, & a slightly more “chain” feeling ~ while The Wild Oscar ($224+) gives you plenty of sophistication & character in a boutique atmosphere….named after Irish poet, Oscar Wilde.
Check prices at the Intercontinental Presidente Mexico City.
“Really wonderful service at The Wild Oscar. Tony in the restaurant remembered how I took my tea every morning, & how my husband took his coffee without asking. Alex at the front desk was also lovely. Wonderful location, comfy bed. I felt very safe here. Service is 5/5.”

Thanks for your feedback, Emmanuelle! xoxo Noelia
I recently visited Mexico City for work and stayed at the JW Marriott in Polanco. What a place! The new lobby and restaurant are gorgeous. Felt totally safe staying here. Many of my co-workers were afraid to visit Mexico City – which is why I wanted to comment on this post. Polanco felt as nice as Santa Monica or even Beverly Hills (I live in L.A.), and I just want to help reassure other travelers. This is a great part of town for first-time visitors to Mexico City to stay in!
Thank you so much for your insights, Allison! I totally agree with you about Polanco being a very upscale, safe area to stay in. And in fact, I don’t think there’s anywhere in Bend (where I live) that’s as nice as Polanco! Thanks again for your comment, it really does help other travelers : ) xoxo Noelia
