Why You Should Never Buy From Maxinina!

I hate writing posts like this!  In fact, I don’t think I’ve EVER written a post like this.  Normally, my posts & articles are happy, info-filled travelogues.  BUT!!  The behavior of this particular company, Maxinina, is SO egregious that I really can’t keep my mouth shut, given that I have a platform to speak up.  To make a long story short: Maxinina is a scam company.  They’re a “fast-fashion” company based in China, & if you order clothes from them (like I was foolish enough to do), they’ll likely take THREE WEEKS to reach you!!  But that’s not even the worst of it.  Read on & find out why you should NEVER buy from Maxinina!!!

Why You Should Never Buy from Maxinina

This is the order I placed with Maxinina. Two of the items never arrived, yet they still charged me for them. And the only item that remotely looked like the photo was the “V-Neck Plain Tunic” ~ it’s the only one I would actually wear!

This is the 2nd item from the bottom (in photo above), iN REAL LIFE. The quality is HORRendous (it looks like the sleeves were literally cut with child’s scissors), & the color is a puke-y pink. Not exactly what I was looking for.

So here’s how it happened: I was scrolling through Instagram one night (yes, they got me thru IG), & I saw the CUTEST clothes advertised, so I clicked through to the site.  They were so cute, in fact, that I put six items in my cart & ordered them, for a total of $152.  When they finally arrived after three weeks, here were some problems:

  • The clothes looked nothing like they did online; my niece could have made better clothing.  They were clearly knock-offs with a funny smell, no tags on the clothing, & one blouse even had a yellow stain on it.  Gross.
  • Even better: two items I wanted were “Out of Stock,” yet they still charged me for them.  They sent emails stating these items were “Out of Stock,” but when I replied to the email address they provided…..I heard NOTHING.  And had been charged $55 for two items I never received.
  • I’ve since had to open a claim through Paypal, simply to get the money back for the items I never received.  This finally opened up a conversation with Maxinina themselves, & they acknowledged they hadn’t sent me the items.  BUT I STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY MONEY!!  (This has turned into an actual Paypal dispute now.)  Maxinina wanted me to “resolve the dispute,” & then they would refund my money.  Ummm….yeah RIGHT!?  S-H-A-D-Y.
  • Want to return clothing to Maxinina?  Well, you really can’t.  They did provide me an address in China, but said shipping fees would cost around $60+, sooo….good luck with that!  (The address they provided me via our Paypal conversations is below.)

Reviews for Maxinina

Only after I began having problems with Maxinina, did I look up reviews for them online.  And here’s what I found: out of 13 reviews, ALL were 1-star.  Sounds like everyone else was running into the same issues I was…

As it stands, I’m currently still in a “Dispute” with Maxinina via Paypal, & my $152 has been “held” for two months now….so!  The moral of this story is: DON’T buy anything from Maxinina, unless you want to deal with this kind of nonsense!  Also, before buying anything via Instagram or online, check the company’s website: if you can’t find a return address or their return policy sounds fishy, it’s probably a scam.  Apparently, Instagram is not vetting companies that advertise with them well enough, unfortunately!
