Overview of Famous Charleston Hotels

The show “Southern Charm” has put Charleston on the map for the young, rich, & beautiful. Photo: US Weekly.
- **The Dewberry Hotel Charleston ($369+/night) = Hip, Mid-Century Modern Hotel with One of the Best Rooftop Bars in Town. Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (of “Saved by the Bell” & “Beverly Hills 90210“), Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Chapelle, & Norman Reedus have all been spotted at this legendary Charleston hotel. And it wouldn’t be surprising to see a local reality star on its hip, rooftop bar ~ the Citrus Club….which gives you jaw-dropping 360 views of the city. The vibe here is young & fun.
- Wentworth Mansion ($400+) = The Most Historic of Charleston’s Luxury Hotels. Formerly the home of wealthy cotton merchant Francis Silas Rodgers, & dating back to America’s “Gilded Age,” this four-story red-brick building is a major Charleston landmark. Dripping with history, you’re not likely to run into young reality stars here (which may be a bonus). You’re more likely to run into South Carolina’s “Old Money” crowd here, or those who appreciate a sense of history & refinement.
- **The Charleston Place ($275+) = Independent Luxury Hotel with Great Restaurants & Spa: Located by King & Market Streets, where Reese Witherspoon is known to shop, this a great hotel if shopping & spa’ing is on the agenda. Local glitterati also frequent their restaurants, which are some of the most popular in the city. Grab a high-end, boozy brunch at their Palmetto Cafe ~ or listen to live jazz at the Charleston Grill. With their hip restaurants & fun scene: this is where you’re most likely to run into the “Southern Charm” cast.

The Charleston Place has some of the most fun restaurants in the city, where you can listen to live jazz..
“Currently a guest at The Charleston Place. I cannot rave enough how beautiful, friendly, & attentive this hotel is. A top-notch luxury hotel that I will frequent often. This has to be one of the most beautiful hotels, that pays attention to every detail. And oh…the smell in here is lovely.“– Donna S.

“Beautifully decorated, dreamy, & charming! The staff goes above &beyond to wow you; they’re the epitome of hospitality. We stayed in Room 15, a Mansion Room. It was gorgeous, spacious, & spotless! It also had all the amenities we’d expect at a five-star hotel, while still embodying the Victorian charm we were looking for.”
