Is There a Cheaper Alternative to CE Ferulic?

Ask any dermatologist what their top ingredients are for glowing skin ~ & guaranteed, Vitamin C will be right up there, along with retinols & hyaluronic acid.  Vitamin C reduces signs of aging, fights free radical damage, reduces hyperpigmentation, promotes collagen production, & acts as a topical antioxidant, protecting skin from further damage.  Of the many Vitamin C serums, Skinceuticals’ cult classic CE Ferulic has long been considered the “Gold Standard.”  But at $166 an ounce, it’s PRICEY!  We’ll find out here if there’s a cheaper alternative to this wildly popular CE Ferulic serum…

If you go to any esthetician & ask their opinion for the BEST performance skincare product on the market, chances are: they’ll tell you Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum. Photo courtesy of Skinceuticals.

Vitamin C is “a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals. Because of its antioxidant properties, Vitamin C aids your skin’s natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells.”

Cheaper Alternatives to CE Ferulic

Below, I’m listing three cheaper alternatives to Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum: 1) Advanced Skin Care’s 15% C + E Ferulic, 2) Korean Skin Care’s 20% Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum, & 3) Paula’s Choice C-15 Super Booster.  I’ve listed the ingredients of Skinceuticals’ formulation directly below; then below each of the other serums, I’ve listed their ingredients as well, so you can do a direct comparison.

Ingredients for Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Serum:  Water, Ethoxydiglycol, L-Ascorbic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Laureth-23, Alpha Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Ferulic Acid, Panthenol, & Sodium Hyaluronate.

To sum it up: the serum with the least amount of ingredients & closest profile to Skinceuticals is Advanced Skin Care.  The Korean Skin Care serum has more ingredients ~ but they’re nearly all organic, with a lot of beneficial extras, like jojoba oil & aloe vera (I’ve used this serum for some time, & though I have sensitive skin ~ it’s only brightened my skin, never bothered it).  Finally, the Paula’s Choice serum has more chemicals in it then I personally like to see (like hydrogenated oils & PEG-40); note that some reviews said this formulation irritated their skin.  Be careful with this one if you have sensitive skin.
