Iconic Places to Stay in Torres del Paine
So I recently wrote an article on Puerto Natales, Chile: the closest town to Torres del Paine National Park. While you can find some great deals there ~ it’s still a 90-minute drive to the park! Which isn’t ideal if you plan to do a lot of hiking & adventuring in the park. Accommodations inside of Torres del Paine are more expensive: but as this is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip, I recommend staying 1-2 nights IN the park, to avoid long days of driving. So to that end, let’s take a look at some absolutely iconic places to stay IN Torres del Paine National Park!

One of the most unique places to stay in Torres del Paine are the iconic “domes” at EcoCamp Patagonia. Photo: Trip Advisor.
Getting Oriented in Patagonia
Patagonia is a HUGE area, spread across two countries ~ Chile & Argentina, at their southern-most tips. All three cities below are great places to base, as they’re close to many epic Patagonia adventures & “Bucket List” hikes.
- 1) Puerto Natales, Chile = Closest major city to Torres del Paine National Park (but still about a 90-minute drive to the park);
- 2) El Calafate, Argentina = 3 hours north of Puerto Natales, near Perito Moreno Glacier;
- 3) El Chalten, Argentina = 2 hours north of El Calafate, at the base of many hikes, including epic Mount Fitz Roy.

The world-famous Mirador Las Torres hike, in Torres del Paine. Two of the accommodations listed below are located AT the base of this hike!

Overview of Torres del Paine Hotels

Hotel Las Torres Patagonia is located right at the base of the Mirador Las Torres hike.
- Hotel Las Torres Patagonia ($560+) = Closest Hotel to Famous Mirador Las Torres Hike! This hotel is located RIGHT at the base of the iconic Mirador Las Torres hike, which offers one of the most famous views in all of Patagonia. Before our hike, we stopped at Hotel Las Torres to grab some food. This is a rustic mountain lodge with pretty rooms that are comfortable & cozy: but not the height of luxury. Here, you’re paying for LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION.
If you’re hiking the famous Mirador & can afford it: this is a great place to stay.
- Explora Patagonia ($2,540) = The Most Luxurious Accommodations in Patagonia. Set on the shores of Lake Pehoe: you’ll likely have views of Torres del Paine’s staggering mountains from your bedroom. With a full-service spa & horseback riding on-site: this is a great place to stay if you’re looking for the ultimate in terms of luxury & relaxation. The price is steep, but it includes ALL meals, tours, park fees, & airport transfer ~ so you get a lot for your money. Add to that five-star dining: & Explora will satisfy even the most discerning guests.
- Hotel Lago Grey ($504+) = More Remote Hotel on the Shores of Grey Lake: Located deeper inside the park, this is a great spot for those who really want to venture into the heart of Torres del Paine. They offer glacier excursions: so if you’re less of a hiker, & want more of a floating adventure ~ this could be a great option. Rooms are a little smaller & more rustic, & their restaurant is more casual: but you’ll be seeing a side of Patagonia that most never will.
- Rio Serrano Hotel & Spa ($425+) = The Most STUNNING VIEWS of Torres del Paine: When you take one look at the view from their indoor pool: it will make your heart literally soar. THESE are the views you come to Pataonia for!! For my money, Rio Serrano has the best location in terms of views ~ though Explora is also stunning. Upgraded rooms offer balconies (which I highly recommend). They also have a breakfast buffet, posh restaurant, outdoor fire pits, beautiful spa, gym, sauna…& likely the prettiest indoor pool in Patagonia.
- EcoCamp Patagonia ($464+) = The Ultimate in Patagonia “Glamping!”: If you’ve ever wanted to stay in an outdoor “Nature Dome,” completely immersed in gorgeous natural scenery: this is the spot for you! They’ve got a gorgeous Community Room, where meals are served ~ & they can help get you on all kinds of expeditions. They’re located close to Hotel Las Torres, also near the base of the Mirador Las Torres hike.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!!
