How to Get to Mosier Tunnels Trail!
This website is all about helping people get outside more ~ & this post is no exception! We’ll learn how to get to Mosier Tunnels Trail, which is located just outside of Hood River, Oregon. Mosier Tunnels Trail is less of a hike, & more of a paved running & biking trail. But it fits in the “Great Oregon Hikes” category because it gets you firmly out of the city, & into the gorgeous countryside.
The trailhead for Mosier Tunnels Trail is just past Hood River (which is a great place to grab a post-hike drink), & before the town of Mosier. If you get all the way to Mosier, you’ve gone too far. Complete directions from Portland are below.
Eagle Creek Fire Update
The devastating Eagle Creek Fire that occurred on September 2nd, 2017, luckily did NOT affect the Mosier Tunnels Trail. This is one of the few Columbia Gorge hikes on the Oregon side that still remains open, as of early 2018. For a complete list of trail closures, visit the Gorge Friends website here.

You’re walking right along the Columbia Gorge for the entire trail ~ so arriving at the stunning Mosier Tunnels after several miles just seems like a bonus. I love this walk. It’s perfect for families, dogs, bikers, runners, walkers, marathoners-in-training, basically: everyone. Because of its gradual incline, it provides a nice challenge for runners & will still get your heart rate up if you’re walking. And it’s a nice, wide path, the size of a road ~ plenty of room for everyone.
