Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Squaw Valley
Squaw Valley & Heavenly are my top two favorite Tahoe ski resorts: both offer a huge variety of terrain, lively apres scenes, & several ski-in/ski-out hotel options. But the hotels in Squaw Valley (called “Olympic Valley” now) are even more upscale than those offered at Heavenly, so it’s a great spot for those seeking a little post-slope luxury. Here, we’ll discover the “Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Squaw Valley,” where you can literally drive up, drop off your skis, & basically NEVER have to get back in the car again!

Everline Resort & Spa, which used to be called Resort at Squaw Creek (yes, all these name changes get confusing!), has long been the top ski-in/ski-out hotel in Squaw Valley/Olympic Valley. Their offerings are the most luxurious of the three base hotels: with a full-service spa, beautiful heated pools & hot tubs, & on-site dining ~ which the other two hotels lack. This resort sits on 200 prime acres at Squaw’s base, with the Squaw Creek lift just steps from the lodge. Their first-class spa, championship golf course, activities for kids, & delicious breakfast buffet make this a phenomenal place for families.
Closest Ski Lift = Squaw Creek Lift
“Loved our stay at Everline Resort here surrounded by natural beauty! You’re in the epicenter of much to do….from ice skating, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, sledding, skiing, or simply soaking in the hot tub, sauna, or pampering in the spa. Staff was very pleasant. The resort also offered a game room with arts & crafts, movie night, & plenty of games. Excellent place for both indoor & outdoor family fun!”

Photos of Palisades Tahoe Lodge
Formerly Squaw Valley Lodge, the newly-renamed Palisades Tahoe Lodge isn’t a traditional hotel ~ rather, it’s a resort community comprised of 218 individually-owned condos. This means that furnishings & decor varies between units. But the good news is: there are many luxury amenities that all units can enjoy, including a pool, five hot tubs, fully-eqipped gym, steam room, sauna, & tennis courts. The feeling is definitely a little more luxurious than at neighboring Red Wolf ~ & you can often get a better deal here!
So great for those on a budget…
Closest Ski Lift: Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram
“I booked this place primarily for the location, to get ski in/out access. Palisades Tahoe Lodge is certainly good for that! The 1-bedroom condo was very clean, with sufficient space for 4 people. Good for a couple, or 2 couples. The kitchen is well-supplied; it was nice to be able to ski to the condo to eat lunch & rest up before heading out for afternoon skiing.”

Photos of Red Wolf Lodge
Red Wolf Lodge offers studios, 1 or 2-bedroom units, which makes it a good option for families & large groups ~ or even couples seeking a romantic retreat. Amenities include several hot tubs, a gym (which is a little outdated), fire pits, BBQ’s, & a nice sun deck….but there’s NO pool, which may be a problem for families with kids who really want one! There are also no restaurants on-site, but the village is just a short walk, with many dining options & several great apres-ski spots.
Closest Ski Lift: Red Dog Lift
“Red Wolf Lodge is situated perfectly at the base of Red Dog Lift. Walk out back & you’re on the lift. Take it up & ski down to all main lifts & gondolas, including the new base-to-base gondola, which takes you over to Alpine Meadows. Very little walking in ski boots. Beds were comfortable & hot tubs were hot. There’s no food on-site at Red Wolf, but several great restaurants are in the village ~ which is a short 5-minute walk.”

Overview of Ski Resorts in Squaw Valley
- Everline Resort & Spa ($174+/night) = Best for Families with Kids: Due to their on-site dining options, gorgeous pools & hot tubs, plus game room & lots of activities for kids ~ Everline takes the top spot in terms of a family vacation in Olympic Valley/Squaw Valley.
- Palisades Tahoe Lodge ($130+/night) = Best on a Budget WITH a Pool: With a price-point slightly lower than the other two hotels, these individually-owned condos are a good choice if you want to stay right by the slopes in Squaw, with pools & hot tubs ~ minus the super-high price tag. No dining on-site, but you’re a few-minute walk to restaurants in the Village.
- Red Wolf Lodge ($197+/night) = Great for a Rustic Romantic Retreat: Because families are more likely to be staying at Everline, Red Wolf is great for an adult’s getaway. No pools & no on-site dining ~ but there are three hot tubs, & you’re just a few minutes’ walk from restaurants in town.
