Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley & Heavenly are my top two favorite Tahoe ski resorts: both offer a huge variety of terrain, lively apres scenes, & several ski-in/ski-out hotel options.  But the hotels in Squaw Valley (called “Olympic Valley” now) are even more upscale than those offered at Heavenly, so it’s a great spot for those seeking a little post-slope luxury.  Here, we’ll discover the “Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Squaw Valley,” where you can literally drive up, drop off your skis, & basically NEVER have to get back in the car again!

Everline Resort & Spa, which used to be Resort at Squaw Creek, is the TOP place to ski-in/ski-out in Squaw Valley ~ especially for families.

Overview of Ski Resorts in Squaw Valley

  1. Everline Resort & Spa = Best for Families with Kids: Due to their on-site dining options, gorgeous pools & hot tubs, game room & lots of activities for kids ~ Everline takes the top spot in terms of a family vacation in Olympic Valley/Squaw Valley.
  2. Palisades Tahoe Lodge = Best on a Budget WITH a Pool: With a price-point slightly lower than the other two hotels, these individually-owned condos are a good choice if you want to stay right by the slopes in Squaw, with pools & hot tubs ~ minus the super-high price tag. No dining on-site, but you’re a few-minute walk to restaurants in the Village.
  3. Red Wolf Lodge = Great for Large Groups: Because they offer 1 & 2-bedroom condos, this is a great option for groups or families. No pools & no on-site dining ~ but there are three hot tubs, & you’re just minutes from restaurants in town.

Everline Resort & Spa used to be called Resort at Squaw Creek (yes, all these name changes get confusing)!  It has long been the top ski-in/ski-out hotel in Squaw Valley/Olympic Valley.  Their offerings are the most luxurious of the three base hotels: with a full-service spa, beautiful heated pools, hot tubs, & on-site dining ~ which the other two hotels lack.  The Squaw Creek lift is just steps from the lodge.  Their spa, golf course, activities for kids, & breakfast buffet make this a phenomenal place for families.

Sandy’s Pub is one dining option here ~ & it’s the only Squaw Valley ski-in/ski-out hotel with on-site dining.

“Loved our stay at Everline Resort surrounded by natural beauty! So much to do….ice skating, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, sledding, skiing, or simply soaking in the hot tub.

Excellent place for both indoor & outdoor family fun!”

Photos of Palisades Tahoe Lodge

Formerly Squaw Valley Lodge, Palisades Tahoe Lodge isn’t a traditional hotel.  It’s actually a resort comprised of 218 individually-owned condos.  Furnishings & decor varies between units.  But the good news: there are many amenities that all units enjoy, including a pool, five hot tubs, gym, steam room, sauna, & tennis courts.  It’s a little more luxurious neighboring Red Wolf ~ & you can often get great deals here!

“I booked this place for the location, to get ski in/out access. Palisades Tahoe Lodge is great for that! The 1-bedroom condo was very clean, with space for 4 people. It was nice to be able to ski to the condo for lunch before heading out for afternoon skiing.”

Red Wolf Lodge has studios, 1 or 2-bedroom units, making it a good option for families & large groups.  Amenities include several hot tubs, a gym, fire pits, BBQ’s, & a nice sun deck….but there’s NO pool.  There are also no restaurants, but the village is just a short walk, with many dining options & several great apres-ski spots.

Rooms at Red Wolf are perfectly comfortable ~ but not as luxurious as Everline.

There are three hot tubs at Red Wolf, but NO pool.

Red Wolf Lodge is situated perfectly at the base of Red Dog Lift. Walk out back & you’re on the lift. Beds were comfortable & hot tubs were hot. There’s no food on-site, but great restaurants are in the village ~ which is a short 5-minute walk.”
