Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Deer Valley

Similar to nearby Alta Ski Resort, Deer Valley is a ski-only mountain ~ which makes it unique.  This is great for skiers, not so much for snowboarders.  The main difference between Alta & Deer Valley: Alta is “rustic-chic,” while Deer Valley represents pure LUXURY.  And the good news: if you’re staying at any hotel listed here, Park City is just a quick 5-minute drive from Deer Valley, which does allow boarders.  The hotels let you shuttle easily to wherever you want to ski or board.  With all that said, here are the “Best Ski-in Ski-Out Resorts in Deer Valley.” 

Deer Valley is a SKI-ONLY mountain. To snowboard, head to Park City.

Deer Valley caters towards discerning clients (like Gwyneth Paltrow) who appreciate fine dining & luxury.  And the mountain is great for beginners, as Deer Valley has some of the country’s best ski schools.  This is an ideal spot for families & beginner to moderate skiers.

The cool thing about Deer Valley is there are blue & green runs  ALL over the mountain.

Overview of Deer Valley Resorts

• Stein Eriksen Lodge = BEST OVERALL:  It’s hard to beat the Stein ~ this sets the “Gold Standard” in terms of luxury and value. Their mid-mountain location lets you beat the morning crowds, & kids will love their movie theater & arcade.  Parents will enjoy their wine cellar & first-class spa. 
• Montage Deer Valley = GREAT FOR FAMILIES:  Also located up the mountain like the Stein, you can ski to greens, blues, or blacks here.  And the bowling alley inside of Daly’s Pub is a hit with kids.  Plus their Spa Montage is one of the finest in Park City, with its gorgeous indoor pool, redwood sauna, & hot tubs.
• St. Regis Deer Valley = LOCATED AT MOUNTAIN BASE:  Because you need to fight crowds at the mountain’s base to get on the lifts: the St. Regis is unfortunately my least favorite hotel in terms of overall value. Rooms are lovely though, & they have a nice spa & pool area.

1. **Stein Eriksen Lodge = Best Value & Best Overall

Stein Eriksen Lodge has many repeat customers, & their service is second-to-none in Deer Valley.  From their mid-mountain position, take Quincy Express up to Flagstaff Mountain (mainly greens & blues), OR Sterling Express up to Bald Mountain (mainly blues & blacks).  Rooms are “high-end mountain chic;” some have fireplaces, hot tubs, & kitchens.  Many of their rooms are the size of a home.  They have a sports bar, cafe, & wine cellar ~ + two outdoor pools, hot tubs, movie theater, arcade, ski storage, & spa with steam room & sauna.

Closest Ski Lift: Quincy Express or Sterling Express

2. Montage Deer Valley = Best for Spa-Lovers

Montage Deer Valley is another beloved five-star resort.  From their mid-mountain location, take Empire Express up to blues & blacks, or veer left & take Ruby Express to greens & blues.  Similar to the Stein, this is an amazing hotel for a family ski trip.  You’ll find luxury linens, marble bathrooms, fireplaces, & balconies or terraces in all rooms.  There’s a fine dining restaurant here, casual “Burger Bar,” sushi, & a relaxed pub called Daly’s ~ which has a bowling alley that’s very popular with kids. 

There’s also one of Park City’s best spas: Spa Montage.  Indoor & outdoor pools, saunas, & hot tubs offer all kinds of ways to relax at the end of the day.  For a “Ski AND Spa” vacation: stay here.  In case you’re wondering, this is where the Kardashians stay in Deer Valley…

3. St. Regis Deer Valley = Located at Base of Mountain

The St. Regis Deer Valley is the only hotel located at the base of the mountain, by many lifts.  From here, you can get to any kind of run you want ~ greens, blues, or blacks.  The drawback: it’s more crowded at the base, so you’ll be fighting crowds…especially in the morning.  Rooms are contemporary with surround-sound & flat screen TV’s.  You also have ski valets & butlers, fine dining, a wine bar, spa, infinity pool, & hot tub. 

And in case you’re wondering where Gwyneth Paltrow stayed during her infamous Deer Valley ski incident: it was at the St. Regis.
