If you’re headed to Colorado for a ski trip, & don’t need uber-lux digs like those found in Vail & Aspen: then Winter Park may be just what you’re looking for.  This is a challenging mountain, ranked in the top 10% most difficult ski areas in North America.  A whopping 54% of its runs are marked “Expert!”  But don’t worry if you’re skiing with beginners ~ about 25% of Winter Park’s terrain is green (easy), & located in one specific part of the mountain.  To get you as close to the slopes as possible, here are the best ski-in ski-out hotels in Winter Park

Overview of Winter Park Ski Hotels

  • Zephyr Mountain Lodge ($$):  This is Winter Park’s ONLY true ski-in/ski-out hotel. With two buildings: Slopeside & Riverside ~ Slopeside is closer to the lifts. Both buildings have hot tubs & ski lockers.
  • Fraser Crssing/Founders Pointe ($$):  Staying here requires a short, 4-minute walk across a busy street. This isn’t my favorite option for families with kids. But for adults who don’t mind the walk: this is a great option that puts you very close to the slopes.

1. Zephyr Mountain Lodge ($$$) = Winter Park’s ONLY Ski-in/Ski-Out

If you’re looking for a true ski-in/ski-out in Winter Park (aside from VRBO’s), there’s one choice: Zephyr Mountain Lodge.  More specifically, stay in their Slopeside Building.  Their Riverside Building requires a short walk to the slopes.  Overall, there are 230 privately-owned condos ranging from 1-3BR.  Because they’re all individually-owned, you’ll find differences in decor ~ but there are kitchens, fireplaces, balconies, & Wi-Fi in ALL units.

You’ll also find a pool, hot tubs, ski lockers, & fitness center….along with eays access to several restaurants.

“Condos are spread across two buildings [at Zephyr]: Slopeside & Riverside. The Slopeside building is true ski-in/ski-out. The two buildings are joined by an underground parking garage. Both have hot tubs & laundry facilities. Each has ski locker rooms big enough for skis/boards + boots.”

Another Option with a Short Walk…

2. Fraser Crossing ($$) = Almost Ski-in/Ski-Out

If you’re traveling as a family with kids: I’d stick with Zephyr Mountain Lodge.  But, if you’re adults on a ski getaway, & don’t mind a 4-minute walk to the slopes: then Fraser Crossing/Founders Pointe is a solid option.  You’ll find hot tubs, fire pits, & comfortable rooms here.

“NOT ski in/ski out. The building is situated behind Zephyr Lodge, across busy Winter Park Drive. Overall, Fraser Crossing is a nice place to stay if you know what you’re getting into, & are ok with it.  If you don’t mind the walk to the lifts, this is a very comfortable place to stay.”

If neither option looks like it will work: check out VRBO in Winter Park for a wider range of accommodations.  Tip: When searching, filter your results with theSki-in/Ski-Out” option, to narrow it down to places that are truly next to the slopes…
