Best Ski-in Ski-Out Hotels in Winter Park
If you’re headed to Colorado for a ski trip, & don’t need luxurious digs like those found in posh resort towns like Vail & Aspen: then Winter Park may be just what you’re looking for. This is a challenging mountain, ranked in the top 10% of the most difficult ski areas in North America; a whopping 54% of its runs are marked “Expert.” But if you’re skiing with beginners, don’t worry ~ about 25% of the terrain here is green (easy), & located in one specific area of them mountain. To get you as close to the mountain as possible, here are the best ski-in ski-out hotels in Winter Park!
And did you know: there’s really just ONE true ski-in/ski-out property here??
Find out which it is below…
Overview of Winter Park Ski Hotels
- Zephyr Mountain Lodge ($184+/night): This is Winter Park’s ONLY true ski-in/ski-out hotel, with two buildings: Slopeside & Riverside. Slopeside is closer to the lifts; both buildings have hot tubs & ski lockers.
- Frasers Crossing/Founders Pointe ($159+/night): Staying here requires a short, 4-minute walk across a busy street. This isn’t my favorite option for families lugging a bunch of gear & kids…that could get hectic. But for adults who don’t mind the walk: this is a great, relatively inexpensive option that puts you very close to the slopes.

Best Ski-in Ski-Out Hotels in Winter Park
1. Zephyr Mountain Lodge ($184+) = Winter Park’s #1 Ski-in/Ski-Out
If you’re looking for a true ski-in/ski-out in Winter Park, there’s really just one choice: Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Even more specifically, request to stay in their Slopeside Building, which is just steps from the slopes. Their Riverside Building requires a short walk to the slopes, but may be a little harder to navigate with kids. Between the two buildings, there are 230 privately-owned condos ranging from 1-3 bedrooms. Because they’re all individually-owned, you’ll definitely find differences in decor ~ but there are kitchens, fireplaces, balconies, & Wi-Fi in ALL units.
You’ll also find a pool, hot tubs, ski lockers, & fitness center here….along with eays access to several restaurants.
Closest Ski Lift: Zephyr Express
“Condos are spread across two buildings [at Zephyr]: Slopeside & Riverside. The Slopeside building is true ski-in/ski-out. Riverside requires a short walk across the plaza to reach the gondola. The two buildings are joined by an underground parking garage. While both have their own hot tubs & laundry facilities, only Riverside has a small gym. Each has ski locker rooms large enough for skis/boards + boots.”

Another Option with a Short Walk
2. Frasers Crossing ($159+) = Short Walk Across Winter Park Dr.
If you’re traveling as a family with little kids, especially if they’re beginners: I’d stick with Zephyr Mountain Lodge. But, if you’re a couple of adults on a ski getaway, & don’t mind a 4-minute walk to the slopes: then Frasers Crossing/Founders Pointe is a solid option, located right near Zephyr. Because you have to cross a major road (Winter Park Drive), this option is better suited for adults with less stuff to haul.
But if the short walk doesn’t bother you: you’ll find hot tubs, fire pits, & very comfortable ~ though not luxurious rooms here.
Closest Ski Lift: Zephyr Express
“NOT ski in/ski out. The building is situated behind Zephyr Lodge, across busy Winter Park Drive. There’s no possibility to ski-in or out of this building, you must walk with your gear to the base of the resort. The listing says a 3-minute walk to the Gondola, which is true if you’re walking with no gear. Add all your gear & that of your children, & it’s much more of a haul.
Overall, Frasers Crossing is a very nice place to stay if you know what you’re getting into, & are ok with it. If you don’t mind the walk to the lifts, this is a very comfortable place to stay.”

Great article on ski-in/ski-out hotels at Winter Park. Do you know how long they typically stay open for the season? Thanks, Allen
Thanks for your comment, Allen. So Winter Park is already closed for the season ~ they closed on April 23rd. But the Mary Jane side of the mountain is staying open as late as possible this year! Which hopefully means all the way thru May. Hope that helps!
We’re Coloradans with 3 active boys, have been going to Winter Park for years. The Slopeside Building at Zephyr Mountain Lodge is our fave in terms of easy access to the slopes. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your comment, Edith ~ love getting that local’s insight! xoxo Noelle
Do you know if these Winter Park hotels are open during the summer ~ & would this be a good destination for mountain biking/hiking? Thanks, Darren
Hey Darren! Yes, these hotels are open year-round. As for mountain biking, Winter Park has over 600 miles of trails ~ so this is an amazing place to come for a summer getwaway! There’s also plenty of hiking around, & both hotels provide easy access to both activities. Hope that helps : ) xoxo
Very helpful article on Winter Park!
