Best Ski-in Ski-Out Hotels by Keystone
Back when I went to CU Boulder, the ski resort my friends & I visited most was fun-loving Keystone, Colorado. A breezy 90-minute drive from Boulder (& 90 minutes from Denver): Keystone is one of the easiest resorts to access from Denver International Airport, & it’s also a lot less pretentious than nearby Vail or Aspen. Keystone is great for “down & dirty” skiers & boarders, & those who care more about having a great time on the mountain than “seeing & being seen.” But, there are just a few places where you can stay right by the slopes. So here, we’ll list the best ski-in ski-out hotels by Keystone!

Map of Keystone Hotels
There are really only three ski-in ski-out hotels in Keystone: & they’re all condo-hotels, meaning you’ll get a bit of variety with rooms in each. None are truly a “Luxury Hotel,” but Lone Eagle Condos is the closest you’ll get to high-end in Keystone ~ & it’s my top hotel choice here.

1. River Run Village Condos ($164+) = Great Value
River Run Village Condos is one of your best options for ski-in/ski-out in Keystone, & it’s one of the best values. Located next to River Run Gondola, condos are a 4-minute walk to the slopes. There’s a “Ski School” here ~ so it’s an easy drop-off if you’ve got kids (or adults) learning to ski. Rooms have kitchenettes, & condos are cozy with fireplaces, but most haven’t been updated: so you’ll get a 1980’s kind-of-feel here in most rooms. BUT ~ if you’re in Keystone simply to hit the slopes & don’t need a super-fancy room: this is a great option.
Closest Ski Lift: River Run Gondola
“Let me tell you about the ski amenities at River Run: that’s the best part. We stored ALL our equipment ~ helmets, boots, skis, poles, goggles ~ in our locker on the 1st floor. So we’d put on our ski clothes, take the elevator down to the lobby, head to the locker room, grab our gear, & put it all on by the warmth of a fire. Then we walked out the door & in three minutes ~ we’re in line at the gondola!”

2. The Timbers Condos at Lone Eagle ($247+) = Perfect for Families!
The Timbers Condos are within the same complex as Lone Eagle (detailed below), & they’re both close to River Run Village. Some rooms are a little dated ~ but others are spacious & beautifully-furnished: so it’s a bit of a grab-bag. Clicking here will give you a great overview of all room-types. All condos have kitchens, & you’ll find indoor & outdoor pools, plus a hot tub, sauna, & steam room. Ski lockers are located on the first floor, while the bridge to the ski area is located on the second floor; some guests say this is inconvenient.
Also Note: Many reviews commented on VERY HARD beds here, so if that’s a deal-breaker for you, look elsewhere!
Closest Ski Lifts: River Run Gondola & Summit Express
“Ski lockers are on the 1st floor at The Timbers, & the “Skiers Bridge” to the outside is located on the 2nd floor. For us, this meant going down from the 4th floor to the 1st to get skis, then up to the 2nd floor, across the bridge, & a short walk to the slopes.”
– Sally C.
3. Lone Eagle Condos ($250+) = The Most Luxurious Option
Of all three options, Lone Eagle Condos is consistently rated as the best ski-in ski-out accommodation in Keystone. Condos here are a little more well-appointed & offer more luxury than either River Run or The Timbers. Beds are also better here, as are the VIEWS ~ since you’re that much closer to the slopes. With pool & hot tubs, plus an easy walk to the village & nightlife, Lone Eagle is the best choice for more discerning travelers who’d like a slightly more upscale feel while staying at Keystone.
Closest Ski Lifts: River Run Gondola & Summit Express
“Lone Eagle is a true ski-in/ski-out accommodation. It has a warm communal area with a ski-locker room lockers that are heated to dry your equipment. There’s also a steam room, hot tub, & small pool for relaxing in after a day on the slopes. And a nice sitting area with sofas & chairs to relax in ~ with free tea, coffee, & most importantly: hot chocolate to warm you up..”

If you’re looking for a more luxurious experience than Keystone can offer, I recommend checking out these ski-in ski-out resorts in Beaver Creek ~ one of my favorite Colorado mountains. It’s less hectic than Vail, & boasts some of the loveliest accommodations in the state.
