Best Ski-in Ski-Out Hotels by Keystone

Back when I went to CU Boulder, we went skiing the most at Keystone.  A breezy 90-minute drive from Boulder (& 90 minutes from Denver): Keystone is one of the easiest resorts to get to from Denver International Airport (DIA).  And it’s a lot less pretentious than nearby Vail or Aspen.  Keystone is a favorite mountain with locals, & is great if you’re looking to have a good time on the mountain rather than mingling with celebs!  So let’s take a look at the best ski-in ski-out hotels by Keystone!

1. River Run Village Condos = Great Value

River Run Village Condos is one of your best ski-out options in Keystone, & the best value.  Located by River Run Gondola, condos are a 4-minute walk to the slopes.  There’s a “Ski School” here ~ so it’s an easy drop-off for the kids (or adults) learning to ski.  Rooms have kitchenettes, & condos have fireplaces; decor is comfortable but not fancy.

As its name suggests, River Run Village is closest to River Run Gondola ~ about a 5-minute walk.

Some rooms at River Run have mountain views. They may not be the height of luxury ~ but they’re cozy!

“Let me tell you about the ski amenities at River Run: that’s the best part. We stored ALL our equipment in our locker on the 1st floor. So we’d put on ski clothes, take the elevator down to the locker room, grab our gear, & put it on by the warmth of a fire. Then we walked out the door & in 3 minutes ~ at the gondola!”

2. The Timbers Condos = Perfect for Families!

The Timbers Condos are in the same complex as Lone Eagle (discussed below), & they’re both close to River Run Village.  Some rooms are dated ~ while others are spacious & beautifully-furnished: so it’s a bit of a grab-bag.  Clicking here will give you a great overview of room types.  All condos have kitchens, + access to indoor & outdoor pools, hot tub, sauna, & steam room.  Ski lockers are located on the first floor, while the bridge to the ski area is located on the second floor; some say this is inconvenient.

Not all condos are created equal: this is Unit 3081 at The Timbers, & it’s elegant & big enough to host a HUGE group!

3. Lone Eagle Condos = The Most Luxurious Option

Of all three options, Lone Eagle Condos is consistently rated as the best ski-in ski-out accommodation in Keystone.  Condos are more luxurious than at River Run or The Timbers.  Beds are also better, as are the VIEWS ~ since you’re closer to the slopes.  With a pool & hot tubs, plus an easy walk to the village & nightlife, Lone Eagle is the best choice for discerning travelers who’d prefer a more upscale feel.

Outdoor pool & hot tub.

Lone Eagle is a true ski-in/ski-out accommodation. It has a warm common area with a ski lockers that are heated to dry your equipment. There’s also a steam room, hot tub, & small pool for relaxing. And a nice sitting area with free tea, coffee, & most importantly: hot chocolate to warm you up..”

If you’re looking for more luxurious hotels, check out the ski resorts in Beaver Creek ~ one of my favorite Colorado mountains.  It’s less hectic than Vail, & boasts some of the loveliest accommodations in the state.
