Best Retro Chic Hotels in Palm Springs
The Saguaro Hotel is a colorful vintage photographer’s dream, with their fun outdoor pool set against the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains. You’ll get tons of stylish photos here (bring a colorful bikini!); this is a great place for an affordable girl’s getaway. This is less a romantic place ~ more a fun, happening, & young place.

The Saguaro Hotel is an Instagrammer’s DREAM with its colorful umbrellas & rainbow-colored building. Come for the pictures ~ stay for the party…
Another Retro Palm Springs Hotel Around $150/night: The Skylark Hotel. Like the Saguaro, Skylark has a great pool area with mountain views. It’s not as colorful, & rooms are a little more dated ~ but it definitely gives a retro feel.

2. The Riviera Resort (formerly Margaritaville)
The Riviera Resort is a fantastic place for a girl’s weekend or a solo Palm Springs retreat. It’s retro without being kitschy, & swings more towards subtle Hollywood-glam. It’s a gorgeous hotel in a great location, right on North Indian Canyon Drive ~ close to many shops & restaurants. Feel like a celebrity lounging by their chic pool.

At one time, Ace was the “hippest” hotel in Palm Springs. Lately, it seems to have turned more into a family vibe, so if you want to bring the kids out to Palm Springs: this could be your place. It’s more minimalist than uber-comfortable ~ but it’s hip! Good food & drinks, but overall, probably a little over-rated for what you’re paying.
Best Retro Chic with Movie Star Vibes
4. The Avalon Hotel & Bungalows
The Avalon used to be the Viceroy. And the Viceroy Hotel chain, designed by chic Kelly Wearstler, always gives off movie star vibes. I stayed here years ago with a fellow, back when it had its sunshine yellow & white theme. It was definitely a sexy little romantic getaway. Perfect location, walkable to downtown.

The Avalon Hotel & Bungalows is perfect for a sexy little getaway.
If you’re looking for more comfortable, well-appointed room: try the Colony Palms Hotel. It’s less hipster, more of a relaxed, adult vibe. This is the definition of a “boutique” hotel, with Old Hollywood vibes & a beautiful outdoor area.
Best Adult Hideaways in Palm Springs
The Del Marcos is an “adults-only” hotel, so if you’re looking for a getaway sans children: this is a great place. Del Marcos has definite “Mad Men” vibes, with a 1960’s, Rat Pack feel, combined with California indoor-outdoor living spaces. It’s boutique & intimate, with a relaxed vibe, free continental breakfast, & happy hour.

Adults-only. Del Marcos Hotel, in Palm Springs.
The ultimate sexy hideaway in Palm Springs is Korakia Pensione. Its Moroccan-theme gives it an exotic feel, & you can sip Moroccan tea with a view of the surrounding mountains. They’ve been featured in Conde Nast, Architectural Digest, & Vogue; the New York Times calls it “one of the sexiest hotels in America.” Perfect for romantic getaways.

The Most Exclusive Hotel in Palm Springs
This is where Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie held their infamous photo shoot, post-Jen breakup. Hidden behind tall cypress trees, a short drive from town, this is the ultimate celebrity hideaway. When my friends & I ate dinner here, we ran into a famous young actress. It’s that kind of place. It’s expensive, but worth it, to be at the epicenter of desert “cool.”

The ultimate celebrity hideaway: Parker Palm Springs.
