Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is one of my favorite beaches in the world, & also one of the most dog-friendly. Similar to Carmel in California, Cannon Beach boasts a dramatic setting where the forest meets the sea. And with Haystack Rock looming in the background, the stage is set for one of Oregon’s most iconic beaches. Combine that with a charming town, cute restaurants & coffee shops, & of course, lots of dog-friendly hotels ~ & you’ve got a top dog vacation destination! Here, we’ll look at the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach…

My dog Dylan & I have stayed at every hotel listed below ~ so we speak from personal experience! Also Note: While researching this article, I came across mixed information: a few booking sites said that Surfsand & Hallmark Resorts aren’t pet-friendly ~ when in fact, both are VERY pet-friendly. If you’re getting mixed information: call the hotel directly.
Map of Cannon Beach Hotels
Cannon Beach is 80 miles northwest of Portland, Oregon. It’s about a 90-minute drive on Highway 26: the drive is beautiful! If you’re into hiking, Saddle Mountain hike is located on Highway 26, en route to Cannon Beach. And if you’re hungry, Camp 18 is a legendary place to stop, about 15 minutes from the beach.

The Ocean Lodge

Hallmark Resort
Ecola Lodge
The Ocean Lodge
First up is The Ocean Lodge. It’s the priciest pet-friendly option in town, but it’s set right on the sand with beautifully-appointed, spacious rooms. Because it’s located right on the beach, you may have an ocean view from your room ~ & possibly a balcony. Rooms here have every amenity you could want, & free breakfast is offered daily. You’re a little further from town at the Ocean Lodge, but Mo’s Restaurant & the excellent Warren House are within walking distance.
Price = $200+. Pet Charge = $20/night.

Inn at Cannon Beach
Next is The Ocean Lodge’s sister property: the Inn at Cannon Beach. Dylan & I have stayed here more times than any other hotel in town, as it’s extremely cozy & very reasonably priced. It’s not located on the sand ~ but it’s just across the street a few blocks (& by the Ocean Lodge). Rooms are set around a beautiful garden, & you may see bunnies chasing each other! Rooms have fire places & the Inn offers a free continental breakfast daily.
Price = $120+. Pet Charge = $15/night.
Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Cannon Beach:
The Hallmark Resort
Perched high on a hill & closer to town, is one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach: the Hallmark Resort. We were upgraded to a large corner suite with a balcony looking directly at Haystack Rock. If size matters to you: this was by far the biggest room we’ve had in Cannon Beach. But rooms here aren’t as charming as others on this list ~ though you will have sweeping ocean views, a full-service spa, two pools & two hot tubs.
Wood steps lead down to the beach, & you’ll find a fresh water fountain & a “dog wash station” along the way. Your dog will receive a “Welcome Basket” with their own sheet & towel, custom water bottle & bowl, as well as a Frisbee, poop bags, & dog cookies.
Price: $109+. Pet Charge = $20/night.
Surfsand Resort
Near the Hallmark with a prime location by Haystack Rock, is one of my favorites: Surfsand Resort. Similar to The Ocean Lodge, Surfsand is located right on the beach. To be directly on the sand: opt for a beachfront suite. Otherwise, side buildings still have views: ours had a large balcony with a long view of Haystack Rock. One of my favorite things about Surfsand is their location right near town, & delicious Sleepy Monk Coffee!
Surfsand’s Wayfarer Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in town: floor-to-ceiling windows face the beach, & its excellent food & service make it a place I return to again & again. They will also deliver to your room if you’re a guest! Rooms here are on the small side ~ but they’re very well-thought out & maximize the space. Bathrooms are large, & all rooms have balconies & fireplaces. When we checked in, there were warm cookies, popcorn, strawberry-infused water, & salt water taffy waiting for us in their busy lobby! With that, some room service & their cozy robes, we were ready for some Netflix & chilling, to the sound of the surf.
But the best part? Walk out your door, & you’re steps from the sand. Dylan-approved!
Price: $120+. Pet Charge = $15/night.
Ecola Creek Lodge
One of the first hotels you’ll pass when entering Cannon Beach, is Ecola Creek Lodge. Ecola is one of the cheapest pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach ~ but it’s not directly on the beach. Its quaint, garden atmosphere makes up for the (short) walk you’ll take to reach the beach. The best thing about Ecola is its charming atmosphere & short walk to town, with all its cute shops & restaurants. It’s also just minutes from great hiking & views at Ecola State Park.
There are only 22 rooms here & not all are pet-friendly ~ so reserve early, & make sure to tell them you’re bringing a pet.
Price: $65+. Pet Charge = $17/night.

Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Seaside
Sometimes, Cannon Beach is fully-booked ~ especially during the summer. If you still want to get away, try Seaside. At first, I was snobbish about Seaside ~ it’s not as charming as Cannon Beach. But the beach itself blew me away ~ it’s absolutely stunning. Some good, pet-friendly hotels in Seaside are: Ebb Tide Oceanfront Inn (older & right on the beach ~ ask for an ocean-view room), & River Inn at Seaside (in town, but brand new, beautiful rooms).
Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Cannon Beach
That rounds out my picks for the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach. Dylan & I love it here ~ & I know you & your dog will too!
