Best Palm Springs Hotels for Golf Trips
1. The Westin Mission Hills Resort = Best 4-Star Golf Resort in Palm Springs. With easy access off I-10 (just two miles from the freeway), you’re surrounded by championship golf courses here. On-site is a famous Pete Dye track that’s considered one of his more “playable.” There’s also a Gary Player-designed course just north of the hotel. As for rooms, you can choose between 1 or 2-bedroom villas here ~ with flatscreen TV’s, Bose sound systems, kitchens, living rooms, balconies, & washer/dryers. There’s also an outdoor pool, sauna, tennis, & basketball courts. Views here are GORGEOUS.
The Westin Mission Hills is Great for: A guy’s golf trip.
2. JW Marriott Desert Springs ($263+) = Massive Resort with TWO Golf Courses in Palm Desert. If you’re looking for a resort with something for everyone: this is it. Located centrally in Palm Desert, with 360 degree views of the valley ~ there are two golf tracks: The Palms & Valley Courses. Designed by Ted Robinson, “King of Waterscapes,” there are lakes, streams, & waterfalls a’plenty here! Rooms are more traditional hotel rooms, but quite luxurious. The resort also has a popular Japanese steakhouse, sushi bar, boats, three pools, & a nightclub (also a “Kid’s Club” for families)!
The JW Marriott is Great for: A family golf get-away…with lots of on-site amenities!
3. Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa ($220+) = Best Golf Resort in Rancho Mirage with Amazing Pools. The Omni is one of my top choices for a family vacation, as its pool scene is next-level. But there’s great golf here too ~ & 27 holes! All rooms have balconies or patios; suites offer more space & a separate living area. Room service is offered, & there are FIVE restaurants, a spa, gym, tennis courts, & a huge outdoor pool area that includes a lazy river, water slides, as well as an Adult’s-Only area.
The Omni Rancho Las Palmas is Great for: Those looking for more of a “Resort” course, with great pools & restaurants.
4. La Quinta Resort ($250+) = Best 5-Star Golf Resort in La Quinta with Legendary Courses. I’m biased here, because this if one of my favorite hotels in the world. And it’s just a mile from my family’s restaurant: Stuft Pizza Bar & Grill. But golfers world-wide know these legendary PGA West courses: of which the Resort has two ~ the Mountain & Dunes Courses. The 16th hole of the Mountain Course takes you “up above” the valley floor & has you teeing off down into the desert. ICONIC. This is the only 5-Star golf resort on the list, & the hotel’s authentic Spanish architecture & beautiful, sprawling grounds set it apart….making it less of a “cookie-cutter” resort, & far more special. Plus, there’s room service, great dining on-site (Adobe Grill is our family favorite), over 35 pools (you can always find a quiet one), & loads of tennis courts.
This truly is a special property. And if you make friends in town ~ you just may get invited to play other legendary PGA West courses, such as the Stadium or Jack Nicklaus Tournament.
The La Quinta Resort is Great for: Golfers seeking luxury & access to some of the best courses in the world.

The legendary La Quinta Resort. Also great for spa trips, couple’s retreats, or family vacations…

You’re so close to the mountains here, you can almost touch them.

The Mountain Course at the La Quinta Resort is my favorite course in the desert because it’s SO unique, perching you right up in the mountains!
“The La Quinta Resort is First Class! Accommodations are excellent. Food delicious. Staff outstanding. Did I mention the golf?! Awesome!! Scenery SPECTACULAR.”

There are really two Westin hotels located side-by-side: the first is Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas, which are the 1 & 2-bedroom villas mentioned above. They’re great for those looking for more space, separate living areas & kitchens. But there’s also Westin Rancho Mirage Resort & Spa, which may be better-suited for families ~ with its huge pool area & water slides. Rooms here are more traditional hotel-style, & a little less luxurious than nearby JW Marriott Desert Springs.

“Loved the Omni Rancho Las Palmas. Beautiful golf course. Wonderful customer service. Rooms were clean & spacious. Good location as well, with lots of stores & restaurants nearby. I wish we’d had time to try the pools but still, we had a great time & would definitely come back!”

“Came to the JW Marriott Desert Springs to play golf. The course was beautifully well-maintained, with some very challenging holes. Love the GPS golf carts. Great pricing for such a beautiful course.”

Just returned from a guy’s trip at the La Quinta Resort. Hands-down one of the best trips. We’re all pretty decent golfers, and all agreed that the east side of the valley wins out in terms of the best golf courses. The PGA West courses alone are outstanding, and plenty challenging. We also visited your family’s restaurant, Stuft Pizza! Loved it, looks like the patios have undergone a big remodel. Cheers, Rob
Thanks for your comment, Rob. And YES!! Haha those patios were supposed to be “done” in September….& it’s now November! Yikes. You know how construction goes. But they should be WAY better when completely done, & a lot more protected from the elements! xoxo Noelia
