Best Outdoor Heaters for a Cozy Garden
With temperatures hovering in the 30’s & 40’s right now in Oregon, my thoughts are turning towards creating a warmer, cozier space in my French country garden. Especially since we now have a stray kitty who seems to have adopted our yard as her own, on these cold nights! Years ago, I bought a very simple outdoor firepit, with no propane. Having to start your own fire though….isn’t fun, especially if you were never a Boy Scout! To that end, this article will discuss the best outdoor heaters for creating a cozy garden of your own….with photos for inspiration.

Overview of Best Outdoor Heaters on Amazon
Heaters that are starred are also pictured below.
- Best Small Heater for a She Shed or Pergola Area (Propane) = Heat Hog 9,000 BTU Indoor/Outdoor Propane Heater ($99): If you’re like me & you’ve got a She Shed that doesn’t have heat or electrical ~ no problem. Simply pick up this small heater (which can also be used for camping, or in an enclosed outdoor space), & it will heat your room up in minutes. Pros: High-quality, has a nice tilt feature, & heats up small spaces quickly.
- **Best Circular Fire Pit with Rock Exterior (Propane) = 32-Inch HOMPUS Outdoor Propane Fire Pit ($449): This one also comes in a smaller rectangular shape for $249; or a large rectangle for $499. And the propane tank is hidden by the pretty rock exterior, which slides open to fit the tank. Pros: Easy-to-assemble, good-looking, provides good heat, sturdy.
- **Best Tall Heater for Outdoor Dining Spaces (Propane) = East Oak 50,000 BTU Patio Heater ($149): This comes in a variety of colors (black, bronze, stainless) & different heights as well, for different table sizes. And it heats up in about 1 minute, making it one of the quickest heaters on the market. Pros: Easy-to-assemble, great value for the money, & puts out great heat.
- **Coziest Circular Fire Pit with Black Glass + Cover (Propane) = Dark Bronze 50,000 BTU Outdoor Propane Fire Pit ($699): I think this is the prettiest one ~ in the gorgeous dark bronze color. If you live in a windy place, you’ll appreciate the glass wind guard. And you can choose what color rocks go inside the pit: black, brown, or turquoise. Pros: Provides great ambiance, easy to put-together, with great heat. But Note: The propane tank doesn’t fit under the table, as it’s quite low ~ you’ll need a separate storage area for the propane.
- **Best Modern Fire Pit with Glass & Crystals (Gas or Propane) = 70-Inch Linear Modern Rectangular Fire Pit ($1,699): For those seeking a more modern, sleek look: this is a great choice. And because it’s longer ~ it works great next to a long couch, being able to provide heat for several people at once. It also comes in 10 different sizes, with circular pits as well: so if you need something smaller, check this one out. Pros: Beautiful look, bigger than expected, great heat, & very durable.

I love screening movies in my backyard: & this is a perfect set-up for that! Photo by Bless’er House.

This rectangular bench works perfectly with a rectangular fire pit ~ for a clean, modern look.

This “She Shed” is like mine: it uses solar-powered lanterns to light it…
I have outdoor lanterns placed all throughout my home & yard….the fake candles inside are on a timer, & they turn on at the same time every day ~ which creates a lovely, warm ambiance.

In my own garden: I use real candles, fake candles, lanterns, & solar string lights to create a warm night-time ambiance. And of course there are beds for dogs!

Four adirondacks around a circular fire pit will never get old…
And string lights add a cozy feeling to every outdoor space….

Arbors are another way to add privacy & a cozy feeling to the yard….particularly if they have roses or other plants climbing over them. Keeping them close to your fire pit will create a “tucked-in,” cozy feel for your garden & conversation areas.
