Playa del Carmen is one of the Yucatan Peninsula’s most popular getaways.  Located an hour south of Cancun ~ Playa (as it’s known by locals) has beautiful turquoise waters, loads of nightlife, & more adventures than you’ll be able to handle in one trip!  It also has a bevy of all-inclusive hotels.  My friend Whitney just visited mega-resort Xcaret & said they never left the property…there was too much to do there!  In this article, the “Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Playa del Carmen,” we’ll find the best hotels for all categories: families, couples, luxury-seekers, & singles!

The Royal Hideaway Playacar ($347+) is another adults-only option located on popular Playacar Beach, just south of Playa del Carmen’s main town.  All rooms have either terraces or balconies, & room service is offered; upgraded rooms offer private hot tubs.  There are six restaurants here & six outdoor pools to lounge by, as well as a spa.

Another beachfront option, the Royal Hideaway Playacar also has SIX outdoor pools to choose from.

Best All-Inclusives for Families in Playa

The Iberostar Tucan not only has a beachfront location ~ but it also offers “Kid’s Clubs,” making it a great option for families.

Next up is my top pick for family fun in Playa: the massive Hotel XCaret ($682+).  This is more than just a hotel: your room fee includes access to numerous adventure & water parks on the property; you can kayak or paddle board right in XCaret’s gorgeous, turquoise lagoons ~ plus they have a spa, tennis courts, ten restaurants, eight bars, & multiple outdoor pools.  As my friend said about her recent trip to XCaret: “We didn’t ever have to leave the resort ~ there was so much to do!”

Hotel Xcaret Mexico is MORE than a hotel: it’s an EXperience! If you don’t ever want to leave your hotel: this is the perfect option for you.

My final picks for families is the RIU Palace Riviera Maya ($275+).  A less expensive option than XCaret, all rooms have balconies or terraces, & all come with either a whirlpool tub or hot tub ~ a welcome surprise at this price point.  Parking is included in the price (rare), room service is 24/7, they have six restaurants, four bars, & a nightclub for those looking to dance & mingle.  Two outdoor pools, water slides, beautiful beachfront access, & a kid’s club will keep the young ones busy & happy.

Best Luxury All-Inclusives in Playa

 Finally, we come to the ultra-chic Rosewood Mayakoba ($1,595+).  Located just north of Playa del Carmen, within the Mayakoba complex (which has several other hotels, such as the Banyan Tree Mayakoba), the Rosewood gives you beautiful beachfront combined with lush jungle surroundings.  Suites have an open, tropical feel with private plunge pools & separate living areas; the in-room Bose sound systems allow you to set the musical tone.  There’s an Italian restaurant here, sushi, & a tequila bar ~ plus three outdoor pools, highly-luxe spa, & 24/7 room service.  Kayaking & snorkeling also offered.
