Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Cannon Beach!
Cannon Beach is one of my favorite beaches in the world, & it’s also one of the most dog-friendly ~ filled with world-class hotels that love doggies! Similar to Carmel in California, Cannon Beach boasts a dramatic setting where the forest essentially meets the sea. With Haystack Rock looming in the background, the stage is set for one of Oregon’s most beautiful, iconic beaches. Combine that with a charming town, cute restaurants & coffee shops, & of course, plenty of dog-friendly hotels ~ & you’ve got a top dog vacation destination! In this post, we’ll look at the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach…
Me & my dog, Dylan, have personally stayed at every hotel listed below ~ so we’re speaking from personal experience! Also note: while researching this article on various booking sites, I came across mixed information: a few sites told me, for instance, that both the Surfsand & Hallmark Resorts are not pet-friendly ~ when in fact, both are VERY pet-friendly, & among my top picks for the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach. If you’re getting mixed information: call hotels directly, or visit their websites.
Map of Cannon Beach Hotels
Cannon Beach is 80 miles northwest of Portland, Oregon. It’s about a 90-minute drive on Highway 26 ~ & the drive is beautiful, enjoy it! If you’re into hiking, Saddle Mountain hike is right off Highway 26, en route to Cannon Beach. If you’re hungry, a great place to stop along the way is the gigantic, log-cabin restaurant: Camp 18.

The Ocean Lodge
Inn at Cannon Beach
The Ocean Lodge
First up in Cannon Beach is The Ocean Lodge. It will likely be your priciest pet-friendly option in town, but it’s also set right on the sand with beautifully-appointed, spacious rooms. Because the hotel sits right on the beach, there’s a good chance you’ll have an ocean view from your room ~ & possibly a balcony. Rooms at the Ocean Lodge have every amenity you could want, & free continental breakfast is offered daily. You’re a little further from town at the Ocean Lodge, but Mo’s Restaurant & the excellent Warren House are within walking distance.
Price = $200+. Pet Charge = $20/night.
Inn at Cannon Beach
Next up is The Ocean Lodge’s sister property: the Inn at Cannon Beach. Dylan & I have probably stayed here more times than any other hotel in town, as its cozy & reasonably priced. It’s not right on the sand ~ but across the street & up a few blocks (near the Ocean Lodge). Rooms are cozy & set around a beautiful garden, where you may see bunnies chasing each other. Rooms have fire places & the Inn offers a free continental breakfast daily.
Price = $120+. Pet Charge = $15/night.
Perched high on a hill & closer to town, you’ll find one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Cannon Beach: the Hallmark Resort. We were upgraded to a large corner suite at the Hallmark with a balcony looking directly at Haystack Rock ~ by far, the biggest room we had in Cannon Beach. Rooms here aren’t quite as charming as other hotels on this list, but the hotel makes up for it with sweeping ocean views, a full-service spa, two pools & two hot tubs.
Wooden steps lead from the hotel down to the beach, & you’ll find a fresh water fountain plus a wash down station for your pup along the way. In your room, your dog will receive a special “Welcome Basket” with their own sheet & towel, custom water bottle & bowl, as well as a Frisbee, poop bags, & dog cookies.
Price: $109+. Pet Charge = $20/night.
Near the Hallmark Resort with a prime location by Haystack Rock, is one of my favorite Cannon Beach hotels: Surfsand Resort. Similar to The Ocean Lodge, Surfsand is located right on the beach. To be directly above the sand, opt for a beachfront suite. Otherwise, side buildings still offer views: our room had a large balcony with a straight-shot towards Haystack Rock. One of my favorite things about Surfsand, aside from its “Welcome Baskets” for dogs, is their location right near town (& the delicious Sleepy Monk Coffee)!
Surfsand’s Wayfarer Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in town: floor-to-ceiling windows face the beach, & its cozy environment, plus excellent food & service, make it a place I return to again & again. Plus, they will deliver to your room if you’re a guest! Rooms at Surfsand (unless suites) are a tad on the small side ~ but they make up for it by having every amenity in handsome, well-appointed rooms. Bathrooms are large, & all rooms have balconies & fireplaces. When we checked in, there were warm cookies, popcorn, strawberry-infused water, & salt water taffy all waiting for us in their happening lobby! Between that & cozy robes in the rooms, we were ready for a night of Netflix & chilling, to the sound of crashing waves.
But the best part? Walk out your door, & you’re steps from the sand. Dylan-approved!
Price: $120+. Pet Charge = $15/night.
Ecola Creek Lodge
One of the first pet-friendly resorts you’ll pass upon entering Cannon Beach, is Ecola Creek Lodge. Ecola is one of your cheapest pet-friendly options in Cannon Beach ~ but it’s not set directly on the beach. Its cute, quaint, garden atmosphere makes up for the (short) walk you & your pup will take to reach the beach. The best thing about Ecola though, is its charming atmosphere & short walk to all the cute shops & restaurants in town, as well as great hiking & great views at nearby Ecola State Park, about a 5-minute drive from the hotel.
There are only 22 rooms here & not all of them are pet-friendly ~ so reserve early here, & make sure to tell them you’re bringing a pup.
Price: $65+. Pet Charge = $17/night.
The Tolovana Inn (at the far south side of town, near Ocean Lodge), is another slightly cheaper pet-friendly option in Cannon Beach. Rooms are a little dated, but their larger suites are very pleasant & good-sized. Across the street from Tolovana is The Wayside Inn. Rooms here are fresh & updated ~ but this is personally my least favorite pet-friendly hotel in Cannon Beach, as all rooms sit directly on the main road. To me, it just wasn’t a very relaxing experience.
Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Seaside
Sometimes, Cannon Beach is fully-booked ~ especially during the summer months. If you still want to get away, try Seaside. At first, I was a little snobbish about Seaside ~ its town isn’t as charming as Cannon Beach. But the beach itself in Seaside blew me away ~ it’s absolutely stunning. Some great, pet-friendly hotel options in Seaside include: the Hi Tide Oceanfront Inn (older, but right on the beach), Ebb Tide Oceanfront Inn (also older & right on the beach ~ ask for an ocean view room), & River Inn at Seaside (in town, but brand new, beautiful rooms).
